Holy Name Parish Bulletin September 2013-NEW PRIEST, SEMINARIAN & SACRISTAN Announcement

NEW PRIEST, SEMINARIAN & SACRISTAN September 2013

Priests are becoming a bit scarce in the Archdiocese of
Montreal. This became  evident late this summer when the
illness of a priest led to a considerable number of clergy
moves. Holy Name of Jesus was not spared, resulting in the
transfer of Fr. Herbert Schulz to St. Kevin’s Parish in Cote-Des-Neiges. Fr.Herbert served our parish faithfully for five years, touching many with his gentle demeanor and special dedication to the sick and elderly of the parish.
Succeeding Fr. Herbert as assistant to our Pastor is Fr.

Jason Piper, ordained in January last year. He served as Assistant at St. Patrick’s Basilica since then, and is
now returning to his home parish where he grew up. He attended John F. Kennedy Elementary, Sacred Heart Middle School and Laval Catholic High School.  His parents, Linda and Kevin Piper, are still regular and
involved parishioners.

Frank Scalia, a seminarian in his last year of studies, has also been sent to Holy Name of Jesus, to begin his internship on a
part-time basis this pastoral year (mostly weekends).

In other news: the last seminarian who interned at our parish was
Fr. Michael Leclerc, who has been appointed Parochial Administrator of St. Ignatius Parish in Montreal West. Fr. Marco Guzman,
who served in 2007-2008 at Holy Name, is the new Parochial Administrator of
St. Thomas a Becket Parish in Pierrefonds.
